I want to create a bombardment of imagery and irony in my paintings by drawing upon the vast resources in our own culture. I attempt to lift viewers out of the comfort zone of accepted belief and unconscious preconception about everyday life and move them into the discomfort of thought and disturbance of feeling. I try to create a visual ecstasy through the juxtaposition of expansive color fields and classical representation. My subject matter ranges from 50s pop icons and horror movies, to current events in everyday postmodern life. My paintings fuse two, sometimes three, seemingly totally different ideas and then combine them together to form multiple abstract references in a single painting
