The
band name DECCATREE comes from the title of a microphone configuration
traced back to March 1954. This set up, of 4 microphones mounted
on the ends of two metal beams in an T shape raised high above
a classical orchestra, recreate a true-to-life stereo image
of the orchestra.
The
part I found interesting is that even if the orchestra was playing
the same piece of music and you moved one microphone, ever so
slightly, it would change the overall sound. I look at the musicians
who play on these songs as those microphones, you move one in
or out and it drastically changes the sounds cape. The band
DECCATREE is about this symbiotic relationship of people, we
all affect each other in one way or another but when it¹s
just right it feels like home.

What if I... This is a song I'll listen
to driving up the 101 thru the central coast of cali with one
leg out the window, a half burned cigarette on my mind, and
a smiling brunette in my passenger seat. Deccatree has this
singalongable sound of Garden State-esque moments in time, toetapping
my way thru the lines of SoCal traffic with home on my mind
and a skip button on my CD staying how it should be-untouched.
I first had the glory of hearing Deccatree at the Mint in Hollywood
last week, yet was one of the unfortunate tenants of the soupy
dive by only being allowed to hear a few of their songs. It's
not often that I go to a show to hear one band, and end up falling
for another the same night. But this is a CD I need to add to
my collection, it's the softer shade of rock music that is far
too neglected in our busy poshcrap wananabe Dollywood lives.
They're keeping it real, and obviously having a fucking blast
doing it. It not only seeps from their amps, it splashes on
the crowd with the bloodsweatandtears that I know they must've
put into these tunes.
