Friday, November 14th @ Firewater Inn, Agoura Hills, CA.

I always love walking into a dive bar. Doesn't matter where. This was a beer-only bar, with a decent stage and a couple pool tables, in surprisingly good condition for the joint too. Disappointed that few people decided to take the trek up north for the show, as it turned out a quick shot from far east LA, leapfrogging over Friday night traffic in downtown.

Other bands played, but I came solely to see Jarritos de Miel, the mysterious and spunky chic-rock spanish/surf rock garage band. Even though the word 'fun' is far too mediocre to describe their attitude on stage, it's still the only word I can come up with.. It's how I felt.. Not just head-bobbing punkrock, this shit makes your blood warm up, you just hafta move.

With their mix of pop and ballads and latin influence, the Honeypots are sure to slap a smile on people's faces, if not get them off of their damn barstools and up drinking beer with the rest of us! The melodic harmonies of the bass player playing lead riffs and the drummer kicking ass somewhere, she may be hiding, but she's hitting like a monkey on a trampoline back there.. (For the slow kids, that's a compliment.. monkey's have amazing rythym.) The singer was having a blast and the lead guitarist backing her every move with angelic fingers flying over the frets. The energy of the entire band compliments the music, making for an awesome and lively stage presence.

If you haven't checked out their music yet, do it now.. But better yet, go see them live in action.. If you can hold your cool long enough not to drool, you're sure to rock out to some good tunes with Jarritos de Miel.
