Biography

Rob's style combines a hip hop sensibility with a drum & bass sound. His sets include all styles of jungle, from jazzstep to darkside, quick mixed and cut up, laced with sharp scratching skills on par with any battle DJ. With over 4 years experience on the wheels of steel, Rob's background begins in the Bay Area, where he grew up a family rich in musical tradition, including classical, traditional Latin, and Afro-Cuban Jazz influences.

In his teen years he discovered heavy metal and industrial music, and went on to develop an interest in electronic music, which inevitably led him to the rave scene while he attended college on California's Central Coast. Drawn to jungle's dense percussive sound, he began spinning in late 1996. Over time, he honed his skills and played many one-offs and clubs in the area.

Eventually, he respect and is regarded as one of the region's pioneer junglists. He was even the D&B resident at San Luis Obispo's BAD MONKEY club from January 2000 to October 2000. In addition, he founded the area's first junglist crew, "Rinse & Repeat" in March of 2000 (along with Step Correct and newcomer Rick Barreraz). He went on to dazzle crowds in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Ventura, and Phoenix, Arizona, while sharing the bill with such artists as: Deacon, Sage, Billy Lane, MC Duh, Jason Angel, Don, SDF-1, Curious?, and APX-1.

In October 2000, after graduating with a marketing degree, Rob took a job at a Silicon Valley advertising agency and currently lives in the South Bay Area near San Francisco. He continues to pursue his DJ/producer interests, and advises Sharee on many marketing/promotion matters with respect to Jungle Voodoo.
